Stephanie Madsen’s financial leadership experience to support growth and expanded impact across the region.

Sacramento, Calif. – Stephanie Madsen has joined WellSpace Health as the organization’s new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). She brings with her more than 25 years of experience working in the healthcare sector and will be instrumental in helping the organization expand its impact for underserved people and neighborhoods across the greater Sacramento region.

“Stephanie recognizes the strong financial foundation of WellSpace Health and the critical role it plays in deepening our reach,” said Dr. Jonathan Porteus, Chief Executive Officer of WellSpace Health. “With her leadership, we are well-positioned to grow, strengthen our operations, and meet the evolving needs of the communities we serve.”

Madsen comes to WellSpace Health from Western Health Advantage, where she spent 25 years contributing to the health plan’s expansion from Sacramento into greater Northern California, with significant growth over the past five years to more than 130,000 members. Prior to her time with the health plan, she worked at KPMG, where she built deep expertise in accounting and reporting, including service for healthcare clients.

“I have always felt a draw to the healthcare industry and have appreciated working for organizations built around mission-driven healthcare focused on improving health by serving those who need it most,” said Madsen. “Joining WellSpace Health is a natural transition for me and I am excited to work with a team intent on reaching more people and doing more good in our communities.”

Madsen steps into the role of CFO at WellSpace Health, building on the strong foundation established by Chue Vang, who has served the organization for more than 20 years, including as CFO since 2020. Vang will remain with the organization in a new role, supporting the leadership team.
