Dental Care – A Note to Our Colleagues

Colleagues,

For nearly a decade WellSpace Health has provided dental care to patients from birth through age 20, which we commonly refer to as children and adolescents. We provide this care because little mouths are a big deal! Untreated tooth decay can cause pain and infection that can lead to problems with eating, speaking and overall health.

Just like primary care, we recommend regular check-ups and preventive care as a part of a patient’s comprehensive care plan. For our youngest patients, we recommend their first dental visit after their first tooth appears but no later than their first birthday.

Initially launched in partnership with First 5 Sacramento, the program has grown to seven dental center locations at Amador, Galt, Hiram Johnson, North Highlands, Oak Park, Rancho Cordova, and South Valley. We are currently planning to expand our dental health capacity by nearly 40 percent through the expansion of existing sites and the addition of a new site at Sunrise. The comprehensive array of services provided at our dental centers is detailed on our website.

In addition to our dental centers, we operate a Virtual Dental Home in Sacramento County where a Dental Hygienist and Dental Care Coordinator provide care in a local elementary school using portable dental equipment. In the Virtual Dental Home, preventive care, including cleanings, sealants, fluoride treatments, and interim therapeutic restorative fillings are provided. Using technology, the hygienist can even perform an intake assessment with x-rays and intraoral photos of the teeth, which are read remotely by a dentist, to develop a patient’s long term dental care plan.

Our dental health colleagues include 12 full-time Dentists, seven full-time Dental Hygienists, and more than 50 dental professionals, who provided care during 50,000 visits in 2018.

If you would like to refer a patient to Dental Health, please have them schedule an appointment in Sacramento County by calling (916) 822-8958 or (209) 278-0333 for Amador County.
